CL's Christening - Welcome to the Christian World my Little Girl!

by - 3:22 AM

I've been out for so many weeks and I know I've been missing a lot lately. I thought I can keep up with blogging and being a new mom, but I can't, really. I never thought that it would be as crazy as this, but honestly, I loved my new journey on parenthood. Hopefully, now I could be, little by little, try my best to be back on track. *smiles*

CL's at 3 1/2 months already and I'm really excited with all her milestones! She just had her Christening earlier this month which turns out very well. And I will be sharing with you how I managed to organize my daughter's wonderful moment.

Enjoy the details!

CHURCH: St. Michael the Archangel Chapel
Philippine Army, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig, Metro Manila, Philippines
(02) 845-9555 loc. 6419
REQUIREMENTS: Certified True Copy of baby’s Birth Certificate, CTC of Marriage Certificate, Registration Form, P500 reservation fee which includes the fee for 2 Principal Sponsors and P200 per additional sponsor (we added 6).
AMOUNT: Php1,700

We paid in full day before the event. The church is very spacious and it is air conditioned. We were also asked to bring our own candles for the sponsors and for my hubby only. I don't need one since I will be carrying my little girl during the ceremony.

RECEPTION: Shakey’s - Market! Market!
AMOUNT: Php11,365.61

We availed 6 sets of Monster Meal Deal, in which one set is good for 10-12 persons. The Monster Meal Deal amounts to Php1,894.27, inclusive of VAT and service charge. It has 1 Classic Spaghetti and 1 Carbonara Supreme Platter, 2 Pan Pizzas, 3 Pitchers of Softdrinks, and Chick ‘N Chips Party Pack.

We used their function room for 2-hours, free of charge. However, since they only have party packages for birthdays, it was us who were in-charged of cake, decorations, and souvenir. But you can always ask them if they can refer someone to make your job easier.

CAKE: Iko’s Bakeshop
Caniogan, Pasig City | (02) 628-4383
AMOUNT: Php2,085

I found out about Iko's when I was searching for affordable cupcakes which cost Php20 each (Php35 for customized). What's amazing with this also, is they're tied-up with Shakey's too. Meaning, as per Shakey's, "no corkage fee and we get to eat the cake inside" - that's good right?!

So we went to their bakeshop at Caniogan, Pasig and ordered a 10-inch round fondant Chocolate Moist cake and cupcakes. And because they're tied up with Shakey's, we've got 12 cupcakes for FREE! We just added 13 more, to make it 25 cupcakes. And here's another thing, they were all delivered at the venue on the day of the event for FREE as well!

However, they didn’t quite get the design of the sample cake that I showed them. The hue came a little too dark when it should be in light pink. The butterflies are way too big and looked like a mosquito with butterfly wings. But nevertheless, the cake and the cupcakes are really delicious! I still recommend them. I guess you just have to request to talk to their master baker to discuss the details of your customized cake.

BALLOONS: Ms. M
AMOUNT: Php1,300

I asked the venue if they knew someone who could make the balloons for the function room and they referred Ms. M who is a balloon artist. So we talked to her and gave us the estimated number of balloons needed and the corresponding sizes needed. We bought the balloons at Edeng Toys Center and Wonderful Gift Shop located at Gift Market of Market! Market! Though we didn't get to buy everything, we just requested her to maximize the balloons we bought. From there, she made 2 pillars, hanging flowers, and centerpieces. She only asked Php500 for the labor, which I believe is already a reasonable prize for someone who has talent in balloons.

TARPAULIN: X Print! at Market! Market!
AMOUNT: Php920

If it's not for my daughter's Christening I wouldn't learn how digital scrapbook works. I designed a 5.75ft. x 4ft. layout using The Promise Collection from ShabbyPrincess - this kit is so cute that I can't resist using it on the thank you cards and on the souvenir itself. For the name of my daughter, I used Smitten Alpha from Eyeinspire and used ShabbyPrincess' Vintage Florals Alpha for the date. The butterflies were downloaded from different sources. Credits to the owners of the images and digital kits, thank you so much!

After the layout, I brought the file at X Print! and had the tarpaulin finally printed. Then we brought the tarpaulin and balloons at Shakey's day before the event, they were actually nice because they're the ones who set it up for us. I'm just disappointed to see that the tarpaulin already has folds and creases. I hope it was handled with utmost care. But still, there's nothing to worry about.

CL's OUTFIT: Metro Gaisano Dep't Store at Market! Market!
AMOUNT: Php679

Chicammy Dress at Fashion Market! 2nd Level, Market! Market! -- Php350.00 (regular price: Php500)
Enfant Shoes with 20% discount -- Php159.80 (regular price: Php199.75)
Darlington White Stockings from SM Department Store, Makati -- Php169.00

CL already has a white baptismal gown bought for her. But when we tried it on her, she got rashes all over her tummy that we decided to return the gown and the shoes in exchange of two cute casual dress. So the one that we bought at Chicammy (which was supposed to be her Shakey’s dress) was used during the baptism ceremony. She looked lovely!

SOUVENIR, THANK YOU CARD, INVITATION & CANDLES: DIY by me! ^_^
AMOUNT: Php1,000

Since we were on a tight budget, our invitation was sent digitally via Facebook - it's practical and convenient that way. I just printed out 1 copy of the invitation for keepsake purposes only.

The candles were personalized with organza ribbons and butterflies which made them presentable for the occasion.

For the souvenirs, we decided to give each of our family, and ninongs and ninangs onlyI made 15 pcs. of personalized placards - which I bought from Blue Magic. I added bows, butterflies, and ribbons just like what I put on the candles. But of course, it doesn't mean that our guests came home with nothing. For them, I printed 60 pcs. of business card sized Thank You cards to show how much we appreciated their presence on CL's Christening, despite their busy schedule.

Now for the videos and photos. NO, we don't have an official photographer and videographer for the event. However, we've got friends! Pictures were taken by us and by them. The video was recorded by my SIL. Isn't it great to be surrounded with amazing people, right?!

Stressful? YES, IT IS! LOL!!!

Enjoyed? Oh, YES! Can't wait to prepare for my daughter's first birthday! Anything for her!
